A Colorful World

Hi from Brooklyn!

Last week was Fall Market at the NY Design Center. As usual, it was chocked full of wonderful new ideas, products and lots of information. As I noted in September, we're seeing a shift towards a traditional but colorful influence in home design. This provides enormous opportunity to repaint your neutral walls with something cozy and fun and to add chic prints to your rooms with pillows, chair fabric, rugs and art. One of the more interesting choices revealed last week was Benjamin Moore Paints choice of Color of the Year 2018, Caliente.  What I see in this color is a comfortable, confident, luxurious choice of wall paint. It says, "Something special is happening here".

We were so lucky to visited San Francisco last month and we had so much fun photographing the "Painted Ladies". Coming from Brownstone Brooklyn, I must admit that these houses sport some personality! You can see the pride that their owners take in making their home special with well thought out color choices. This pink 'Lady' sports a lovely complementary shade of green. This is the opposite color on the color wheel, which serves to make both colors pop.  All of her curlicues are detailed in ivory. Next door, is another 'Lady' in various shades of purple mixed with her complementary color of gold. Gorgeous!

May today be a colorful one.

xoxo Theresa
