Trend Alert- Ravishing Red

Hi from Brooklyn!

In my travels through Design World, I've started seeing red! This is unexpected as we've been in such a blue/green period for the last couple of years. Red has always been a great accent color in modern design schemes, but this pop of color is now carrying through transitional and traditional decors as well. Red works well with gray, brown, beige, green and virtually any shade of blue.

How to pull it off? Remember that when you introduce a new color into your decor, you need to place it in at least 2 separate places. For example, if you decide on 2 red pillows for your sofa, then you should have another red item (What about a lamp?) placed elsewhere in your room. This helps move your eye around your space, without giving your brain the jolt of "Whoa, 2 red pillows!"

Here are several great ideas for incorporating red into your home. These Pottery Barn pillows are made from vintage Turkish Suzanis. I love the idea that big stores are able to offer one of a kind product. Both the leather Arteriors chair and the lacquered West Elm Tripod Table can be used in any setting- living room, den, bedroom, traditional, modern or in between. These versatile pieces look fresh and cool because of their shiny finishes.

The West Elm Kuba Stool works best in a more modern setting. It's ethnic vibe will kick start sleek and boxy furniture. And I love this dining set that I found at Anthropologie yesterday. Don't you just want to sit down with your best friend and gab for a while over a cup of coffee?

Where will you add red in your home?

xoxo Theresa
