Miami Art Deco

Hi from Miami!

As an interior designer, I find that travel is essential for refreshing my creativity. Miami Beach is well know as an art deco mecca and it never disappoints. I remember on my first visit 20 years ago, I felt like I'd stumbled into a not too well preserved time capsule. Needless to say, the area has experience an enormous renaissance and the buildings lend a retro exuberance to the beach environment.

Interestingly, I've noticed that some home accessories companies are now working in this art deco color palette. CB2 calls their collection 'minty fresh' and it does have a fresh appeal, working well with neutrals. Sherwin-Williams introduced their 2013 colormix forecast with 2 groups of paints- vintage moxie and high-voltage- incorporating these very art deco colors. So this means you will be seeing a lot of these colors for years to come.

How would you use them in your home? Why not ride the first wave?

xoxo Theresa
