Park Slope Brooklyn – Living Room

Many times you reach a point when your life shifts or changes. This Brooklyn client wanted her living room to reflect the more sophisticated life that she was now leading. She wanted to add mostly-concealed speakers to the room, and had some beautiful (and sentimental) pieces of furniture that she wanted incorporated into her new scheme. The client, being a self-proclaimed audiophile, wanted a top of the line speaker system that could evenly distribute the sound throughout the living room. As these speakers were to be able to accomplish this while being for the most part concealed, their location had to be carefully selected, as well as their color, down to the wiring. With a few on-location tests and approval from the client, installation followed and was promptly completed.

The next step in the process was seeing to the matter of the furniture. We upholstered these pieces in soft neutrals, both to the match the room and to compliment in with audio system that had been added to the room. Brownstones are built narrow and deep so there are definitely spaces where natural light will not reach. Our solution was to pad the inner dining room walls in a glittery fabric which sparkles under the chandelier. We incorporated mirrored pieces to further bounce the light. Purple velvet chairs, a soft wool rug and graphic artwork made this room come alive in a contemporary way.

The client was left completely satisfied with the result, and happy to have been included in the decision-making process. This classical and rustic style was exactly the look they had indicated they were after. With the room providing an air of sophistication on even a quick first glance, the client is sure to be able to enjoy this now highly-welcoming room of their home with their guests for years to come.
