Is Design Going to the Birds?

Hi from Brooklyn!

Last week was design market week in NYC with lots of exciting new furniture and fabrics. I tried to get to as many showrooms as possible, admittedly, an impossible task, so that I stay up-to-the-minute on design product and trends.

I saw this space in one of the showrooms and it stopped me in my tracks. Why? Because I loved how it made me feel. I love the serenity of the blue wall. I love the pops of color against the stark black frames. I love that a massive 'picture' is built from lots of little ones. I love, tropical prints aside, that it made me feel like I was back in London.

Design elicits an emotional response in everyone, whether we realize it or not. This is why we walk into one friend's home and feel relaxed and walk into another home and feel anxious. This is why, how you want to live in a space is so important to interior designers. It makes my job so much easier when clients are able to explain how they feel about color, product and finishes.

What emotional response do you have when you walk into your home? Are you happy to be there? Do you feel calm and peaceful? Are you energized and excited? Is your response how you want to live?

If your home doesn't feel, or look, the way you want it to, please reach out to me and let's talk about it. We all work too hard and live crazy, stressful lives. Our homes should feel exactly like we need them to- as our personal refuge from the world.

xoxo Theresa
