Party In Back

Hi from Brooklyn!

Everyone loves to entertain. Well, almost everyone. Those who entertain in a more formal way (read: dining room), always struggle to max out the seating. How do you make your dining table look inviting, comfortable, and not remind your guests of their office conference room?

We've seen one solution to this- Mixed up chairs around a large table. While this eclecticism is interesting to look at, it's very hard to get right without your dining area looking like a stressed-out jumble. Chaos will not make your guests feel comfortable or encourage them to stay past dessert.

Cut to a more uniform and slightly romantic solution. Many manufacturers are now producing beautifully covered chairs with back detail. Since, let's face it, we only see the chair backs (ever), why wouldn't you want to look at something interesting? Patterned fabrics will also do the trick, but these slipcovers aren't quite as limiting, design-wise. Those shown, below, are in solid ecru linen, but your imagination is the only limit here.

How is your dining room feeling? Office-like, stressed out or serenely zen?

xoxo Theresa
