Something to Lift Your Spirits
Hi from Brooklyn!
Since our hurricane last week, I have been in serious need of something to lift my spirits. I found it on Tuesday at the Holiday House. Located at 2 E. 63rd St in NYC, this annual benefit supports breast cancer research. These 2 rooms really brightened my day.
I have always been an admirer of Tobi Fairley. Walking into her room was like walking into a bright sunny day. It made you happy to be there. The room is grounded in black and white with peachy accents and a pop from emerald green lamps. The symmetric furniture layout works because it instills calm and focus.
The Robyn Karp Sweet Sixteen room has gotten a lot of press and it's easy to see why. This room is designed with layers and layers of sparkle on every surface. The door has sparkles, the walls have shine and the window shades shimmer. It is just a joyful room to stand in.
And, really, isn't that what great design is all about?
